English Diary: Surprisingly, Tokyo Has Lots of Greenery! 20220523 #2-100

Hello everyone. Welcome back to my channel. My name is Mai and this is Nomadonomado English Diary for the 23rd of May 2022.

Yesterday, I went for a walk in a park. I am surprised that there are many parks in Tokyo from small to large. I like walking and I am enjoying walking in this area where my parents live.

There is my favourite park near my parents’ apartment. I found it by accident. It’s almost like a little forest. There are lots of old trees. They must have been preserved for ages.

That park is quite big too. Just walking around in the park is a good exercise. When you go into the park, you feel as if you were in the woods in the countryside. It’s so isolated from the rest part of the city that I couldn’t believe that I was in a big city when I first visit there.

I see many people walking, running and playing sports in the park every time I go there. It’s amazing to see almost all of them are wearing masks even when they are doing exercise. In Japan, wearing masks anywhere in public is recommended, but now there is a discussion about changing the rules. They may allow people not to wear masks when they can keep social distance outdoor.

This morning I went to two parks. One is the park which has beautiful bamboo trees and a traditional Japanese house. The old house was closed, unfortunately, but it was worth going just to see the bamboos. There were some people about, but it was calm.

The other one has a little pond and a shrine whose building reflects on the water surface, which was beautiful too. It is not a big park, but you can see it’s well taken care of.

My family and I used to live in Kansai. I have never lived in Tokyo, but I have lived in Osaka. Surprisingly, Tokyo has lots of greenery which was not the case in Osaka, as far as I remember. I think we have more things to discover here in Tokyo.

Alright, that’s all for today. Thank you for listening as usual. I am very happy to receive your comments, feedback and questions. And as always, you can find today’s script in English on my website, nomadonomado.com.

Thank you again and I will talk to you more about my stay in Japan next time. Until then, goodbye.
