English Diary: Japanese Sake and Going Out 20220515 #2-93

Hello everyone. Thank you for coming back to my channel. My name is Mai and this is Nomadonomado English Diary for the 15th of May 2022.

Last night, I had a nice sake again. It was called “Gokujou Yoshinogawa Ginjou” brewed in Niigata prefecture. As you might know, Niigata prefecture is one of the most famous places for good rice and high-quality sake.

I had drunk sake of that brewery before, but it was long time ago. So I was happy when I found it in the shop. It was very smooth and clear, typical Niigata sake. The aroma was not strong, but the texture was creamy and seamless. Overall, it was well-balanced good sake.

Also, I would like to talk about another sake that I had the night before last night. It was called “Mukyuu Junmai Daiginjou”, brewed in Niigata prefecture as well.

Sake is classified according to the rice polishing ratio, and Daiginjou means they had polished the rice as raw material the most. I don’t usually buy Daiginjou sake, but I bought it the other day because it was not too expensive and it also was brewed with one of my favourite sake rice that was called “Gohyakumangoku”.

I thought it could be a little too sweet for me, but it was not. When I opened the bottle, it had a strong aroma of rice, but when I drank it was very smooth and fruity. It was another good-quality sake which I really enjoyed.

Today, I am going to see one of my friends. We will meet at Shinjuku station at the late afternoon and go for a drink. I hope my jetlag doesn’t disturb us.

In fact, I had a Covid test by myself this morning. I brought some rapid antigen tests from England and I tested myself because I had a slight headache. I suppose that I am going to take off my mask in the restaurant or bars wherever we go tonight so I thought I could transmit virus to my friend if I had Covid.

My result was negative, which made me relaxed. I can enjoy catching up with her tonight without any worry.
