English Diary: I Went to Tokyo Tower 20220530 #2-106

Hello everyone. Thank you for coming back to my channel. My name is Mai and this is Nomadonomado English Diary for the 30th of May 2022.

As I told you, I went to Tokyo Tower with my niece yesterday evening. Tokyo Tower is not far from our house. It only took a half-hour to get there.

We took a bus to Tokyo Tower. The bus directly went to the foot of Tokyo Tower, which was very handy. My family moved to Tokyo this March and my niece hadn’t been to Tokyo Tower yet. That’s why we went there yesterday.

I have been to Tokyo Tower, but it was a long time ago. So, it was a nice visit for me too. We arrived there about 7ish in the evening and the tower was already illuminated.

You can go up to the decks of the tower. There are two options, going up to the main deck and a tour to go up to the top. Going to the top was quite expensive, but we took that tour, which cost me 3,000 yen for an adult and 2,000 yen for my niece who is a junior high school student. It was not cheap, was it?

If you go to only the main deck which is 150 meters high, you just take the lift and go up, or you can take the staircase. If you want to go to the top which is 250 meters high, you need to join a little tour from the main deck.

We joined the tour to the top deck and it was interesting. After getting to the main deck, we had to change the lift, and we were taken to the secret room before getting in the lift to the upper deck. In that room, they explained how they started making Tokyo Tower. After that, we took two lifts to go up to the top.

It took a while in the lift to get to the top. The walls of the lift were transparent, so we could see the outside. The light on the ground got smaller and smaller as we were going up. It was not only the view of the city that was beautiful, the orange-illuminated tower itself was also gorgeous.

The night view from the lower deck was spectacular, but the one from the upper deck took our breath away. It was a Sunday evening, but there were quite a few people. There were lots of gift shops in the building, but we were kind of under the time pressure of the transportation to go home. So we didn’t stop at the shops and straight went home after enjoying the night views.
